Today, you will get a chance to learn more about Pratham Pachchigar, our IT Systems Technician/System Administrator and his role at our company!
What is your role at the company, and what are your key responsibilities?
I am an IT Systems Technician/System Administrator with key responsibilities including managing and maintaining client IT Infrastructure, troubleshooting Microsoft environments, networks, and security issues, administering Microsoft 365 environments, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations across multiple client environments. I also work closely with our team to monitor systems, implement security measures, and provide end-user support to keep everything running efficiently.
How long have you been working in your current position, and what led you to this role?
I’ve been working in this position for the past five months. I was drawn to this role because it offers hands-on exposure to a wide range of IT systems and infrastructure, which is helping me build a solid technical foundation. I’ve always been interested in cybersecurity, and this role allows me to understand the nuts and bolts of different IT environments from networking and servers to endpoint management, which is a great stepping stone toward my future goal of becoming a Cybersecurity Analyst.
Can you describe a typical day in your job?
A typical day starts with our morning huddle, which is honestly one of my favourite parts of the day. Everyone shares their plan and priorities using the TopLeft board and mentions if anyone is blocked or needs assistance with anything.
Most of the day involves system administration tasks like managing Microsoft 365 accounts, updating device configurations, and monitoring servers or workstations for any alerts, firewall management.
In between, I might be working on patching, maintenance, or new deployments, depending on the day’s priorities.
Chelsea, our dispatcher, assigns tickets based on each tech’s availability and expertise, which keeps everything flowing smoothly. The role also gives me the flexibility to manage my own time effectively while staying on top of tasks and providing quick support to clients.
What projects or accomplishments are you most proud of in your career?
I’ve just begun my career as this is my first job after graduating as an Information Systems Technician. However, I’m proud of how quickly I’ve been able to adapt to the MSP environment, the stack of tools that we use and have learned a lot of technical concepts, procedures, and requirements in a short time.
Working at an MSP has also put me in situations where I directly interact with directors, managers, and other key decision-makers, providing them with technical guidance and recommendations. It has helped me grow technically but has also allowed me to build strong professional communication and soft skills.
How do you collaborate with other team members to achieve your goals?
Collaboration is a big part of how I approach my work. A great example of this was during a recent security incident at RC Pets. When Huntress detected suspicious activity and isolated the servers, our team immediately jumped into action. We called an emergency meeting, clearly defined roles, and moved in sync.
I went onsite to handle the technical recovery steps while Brent, one of our most experienced technicians, supported me as my wingman. We coordinated closely with Huntress technicians, ran deep scans on the affected servers, and worked with our management team over a live Teams call whenever higher-level approvals or decisions were needed. Together, we also implemented firewall rules to block incoming traffic and safely released the servers from isolation.
This incident really highlighted how well our team communicates and collaborates under pressure.
What are some recent developments or innovations in your field that you find exciting?
NinjaOne is making waves by combining endpoint management, automation, and security into one sleek platform. It recently expanded its availability on the CrowdStrike Marketplace, enabling tighter integration with Falcon for enhanced threat detection and response capabilities.
Also, Kaseya is pushing innovation in its backup and security suites. They acquired INKY, an AI-driven email security provider, and unveiled a next-gen backup appliance (Datto SIRIS 6) plus new identity data recovery tools.
What’s your number 1 tech tip (that you personally use) to our audience? E.g. A tool you use, a workflow, etc.
Stay Caffeinated. Half the time, a good cup of coffee solves more mysteries than an hour of overthinking.
Now let's learn more about Pratham's personal life!
What's your favourite way to unwind after a long day at work?
I play tennis, a perfect mix of movement, focus, and fun. It helps clear my head after being in front of the screens all day.
Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of work that you're passionate about?
I have a mixed bag of hobbies, the kind that soothes my ADHD energy. I love swimming, chess, playing tennis, cricket, volleyball, gaming, travelling, trekking, movies, and occasionally losing track of time in a binge-watch session.
But my favorite hobby is geeking out on the stock market, going in full techno-funda mode and digging into charts and fundamentals and investing money wisely.
Are there any books, movies, or TV shows you've been enjoying lately?
Lately, I’ve been rewatching Modern Family, probably for the 4th or 5th time. It never gets old. The humor, the characters, and the little life moments in the show just make it the perfect comfort watch after a long day.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I’d love to go on a backpacking trip across Europe, hopping on trains, exploring random cafes, and getting lost in new cities. And ideally, I’d do it with my girlfriend (whenever she decides to make an appearance). It’s the kind of trip that’s less about the plan and more about the vibes.
What's your favourite type of cuisine or restaurant, and what dish can you never resist ordering?
Hands down, South Indian cuisine and my absolute weakness is a crispy dosa with bhaaji (spiced tomato filling with cheese), especially the way my mom makes it.
Can you share a fun or interesting fact about yourself that most people at the company don't know?
Fun fact about me, I’m delusional. I have this unique way of remembering life attachments where every moment or stage plays back in my head like a theatrical scene, with songs, plot twists, and drama. Sometimes it hurts a little, sometimes it brings extra joy, but it always makes life feel a bit more cinematic.
Do you have any pets? If so, tell us about them!
Unfortunately, not, but I would love to have a cat.
What's your go-to music playlist or artist for getting pumped up before a busy day?
Nothing specific, but anything that can give a little boost to my main character's energy.
Are there any charitable causes or organizations that you're passionate about and support?
I’m not involved with any specific organization right now, but I really value causes that focus on education and child welfare.
What's your favourite quote or piece of advice that you live by?
Something that prioritizes health: "Eat clean, stay sharp".
If you could have a superpower, what would it be, and how would you use it?
I’d definitely want to be Spider-Man, and I’d love nothing more than to swing around.
Lastly, what do you enjoy most about being a part of the company's team?
What I enjoy most about being part of the team is the chill and supportive atmosphere. Everyone is approachable, easy to work with, and it genuinely makes work a lot lighter and enjoyable.
We hope that you enjoyed getting to know Pratham. We are so thankful for him!
