Team Spotlight: Kim

Today, you will get a chance to learn more about Kim Wilson, our Administrative Assistant and her role at our company!

What is your role at the company, and what are your key responsibilities? 

My role is Administrative Assistant. Key responsibilities include providing administrative support to the Growth team, preparing quotes for clients, participating in meetings (both staff & client-facing) and helping wherever I can with other administrative tasks for the team.  

How long have you been working in your current position, and what led you to this role?

I have been working in this current role for a month now. What led me to this role was moving from Fort St John to Chilliwack and transitioning out of a career in the Oil & Gas industry. 

Can you describe a typical day in your job? 

My days typically consist of meetings, emails and ensuring the Growth team has the administrative support they need behind the scenes, so they can accomplish their goals and tasks efficiently.  

What projects or accomplishments are you most proud of in your career? 

During my career as an administrative professional, I’ve had the pleasure of leading a company acquisition and onboarding over 40 new team members. I am proud of my desire for continual professional and personal development (I love learning new things; when we stop learning, we stop growing).  

How do you collaborate with other team members to achieve your goals? 

We use Microsoft Teams. This makes collaboration seamless across all departments and individuals, no matter where we are in the world!

What are some recent developments or innovations in your field that you find exciting?  

The use of AI in assisting office professionals with various administrative tasks. 

What’s your number 1 tech tip (that you personally use) to our audience? E.g. A tool you use, a workflow, etc.

My number one tech tip is to master your digital boundaries. This means using technology intentionally instead of letting it use you. For example, turn off any non-essential notifications, set a “focus” or “do not disturb” time when needed, and always be sure to take consistent breaks from looking at your screen.

What's your favourite way to unwind after a long day at work?  

I enjoy going for a walk to clear my head and ground myself.  

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of work that you're passionate about? 

I am passionate about health and fitness, everything from nutrition to weightlifting.

Are there any books, movies, or TV shows you've been enjoying lately? 

I’ve been enjoying the audiobook “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle. 

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? 

I would love to visit Turkey and participate in their hot air balloon festival; it looks absolutely magical!

What's your favourite type of cuisine or restaurant, and what dish can you never resist ordering?  

I’m a kid at heart. I always enjoy a gourmet mac n’ cheese dish!  

Can you share a fun or interesting fact about yourself that most people at the company don't know? 

I can be a bit of a thrill seeker at times, and have been ziplining, bungee jumping and skydiving.  

Do you have any pets? If so, tell us about them! 

I have two cats (my roommates). Their names are Sasha and Hope. Hope was a stray, found outside in Fort St John, frozen to the ground when she was a kitten, so I took her in. Sasha was born without a tail and is the older of the two cats.

What's your go-to music playlist or artist for getting pumped up before a busy day? 

I typically start my day with my Workout playlist during a weightlifting session before work. The playlist has a variety of music, including rock, hip hop and a little bit of electronic.  

Are there any charitable causes or organizations that you're passionate about and support? 

There are usually items for donation at the check-out of the pet store, so I donate either items or money to rescue charities whenever I go in to buy food for my cats. I also donate items to local food banks.   

What's your favourite quote or piece of advice that you live by? 

Today only happens once – make it amazing!  

If you could have a superpower, what would it be, and how would you use it? 

I would love the ability to teleport. It would be great to see friends and family in a flash, particularly when they live in different parts of the country.

Lastly, what do you enjoy most about being a part of the company's team?  

I enjoy being part of such a diverse team. Everyone is pooling their skills, knowledge and experience together for the betterment of our clients and the company! I find everyone’s backgrounds so fascinating and have thoroughly enjoyed learning about my coworkers.
